Rolls Royce
A great honour and a challenge, the goal was to create an inspiring piece exuding the subtle confidence of Rolls-Royce while always maintaining classic proportions.
After experiencing a new Rolls-Royce and gaining a complete understanding of the design philosophy and what goes into the creation of a Rolls-Royce we realised it is very similar to the process we undertake with the creation of a bespoke piece of jewellery.
Great jewellery design and production takes many combined years of experience and dedication to create the very best. It is the passion and commitment to want to design and create the very best that is what discerning buyers and collectors are looking for.
When given a challenge like this it important to not over design the piece. The Ghost with all its technology and design excellence, is a sophisticated machine and there are many elements that inspired me to create a complex piece of jewellery.
The most intriguing element of The Ghost we found was the forward opening rear doors. The first concept I had was to incorporate this double opening mechanism in a piece of jewellery piece to reveal something special. But unlike the practical function required by the car this was not the way to go with a piece of jewellery as it would have been design for design sake.
What we kept coming back to when considering our design was what it feels like to stand close to a Rolls-Royce. The car has a presence, a confidence and exceptional beauty. The piece I chose to go forward with is a ring using a combination of baguette diamonds and platinum in the classic grill form. The challenge was to create a ring that reflects the impressive feel of The Ghost while maintaining an understated elegance. The handsome retro form of the ring with the finely detailed brushed and polished finishes reflect the style and detail of The Ghost.
Like The Ghost, the rings simplicity is it beauty.
